On the origins of Footfall

 

It was back in 2015 when, while heading up the marketing department at event and publishing business the Hemming Group, I had started to notice how hard it had become to recruit quality marketing staff.

Sure, finding someone to handle event PR or social media wasn’t too tricky, but sourcing a trustworthy agency to take control of an entire show campaign? Not so easy… and that’s when the idea of creating such a business started to take shape.

 

Fast-forward a year to the summer of 2016, (and a leap of faith in leaving one’s job of 25 years), and Footfall was born. An agency specialising in all matters marketing for the event sector. Over the next two years, Footfall expanded its team to include Will Finch, a seasoned event marketer and strategist, and Alex Merriman, a marketing professional with hundreds of successful campaigns under his belt. Today, Footfall’s client list includes many of the UK’s most respected event companies, and has a growing reputation for getting results.

The surprising thing about the journey so far though, is the variety of projects we’ve been involved in. Take the due diligence service: getting under the skin of a sector and a specific show so as to provide a clear picture of its potential to a would-be buyer has been truly fascinating.
